In partnership with forward-thinking organisations, our expert team develops innovative materials for coatings, adhesives, paints and packaging, offering functional benefits beyond traditional biofillers and advancing sustainable manufacturing.
Scaling sustainable solutions
Founded in 2018, Boreal Bioproducts emerged from extensive academic research into hot water extraction technologies and biomass fractionation. Since 2021, we have operated at pilot scale in Turku, refining our processes and preparing for the next phase of growth.
We are now laying the groundwork for industrial-scale production, with operations targeted for 2028–2029. By utilising abundant and globally available side streams like sawdust and bark—often burned for energy—we unlock their potential as sustainable raw materials for high-value applications.

Boreal Bioproducts transforms certified forestry side streams into sustainable, cost-competitive raw materials for the chemical industry.
Our zero-waste production process combines water-based extraction with energy-efficient methods to minimise environmental impact and maximise resource efficiency.
Sourced exclusively from sustainably managed, certified forests (PEFC, FSC), our inputs align with ESG principles while avoiding competition with food supply chains. With localised European production and centralised sourcing from high-volume sawmilling operations, we ensure traceable, reliable, and scalable materials. This approach reduces supply chain disruptions and enhances logistical efficiency, supporting sustainable industrial applications.
